M29 is an open cluster in the constellation Cygnus located near the star Sadr. This little open cluster is visually small and only contains fewer than 50 stars. It isn’t the faint ones that draw me to this cluster, but the brighter ones front and center that look like a cooling tower to a nuclear plant. I suppose that is why others may refer to this as the cooling tower cluster.

This sketch was done on black canson paper with white charcoal pencil, a regular pink eraser, and a kneaded eraser in order to dim some of the stars to give the overall sketch a bit more depth which is especially needed in a sketch of an open cluster.
