Drive Thru San Simeon Creek Campground
And Washburn Campground
At San Simeon State Park in San Simeon, Central California

There are 2 distinct campgrounds within San Simeon State Park:
1) San Simeon Creek Campground close to the ocean
2) Washburn Campground located further inland.

San Simeon Creek Campground has both an UPPER section and LOWER section. Both are within walking distance to the beach.

The UPPER campground is located further away from Highway 1, so you have less traffic noise, but you can distinctly hear the crashing wave at night.

The LOWER campground has much more shade trees, but is much closer to Highway 1. The campsite are also a little bit closer together. But you are much closer to the beach and ocean.

Washburn Campground on the other hand is located further inland, at a slightly higher elevation and less developed. Unlike the San Simeon Creek Campgrounds, there are only vault toilets at Washburn Campground. In addition, you do not have ocean view although the mountain and a clear sky view can be just as pleasing on the pleasant summer night.
