Patois explores Jeanefer’s relationship with the language and heritage of her St. Lucian mother. A language she understands, but rarely speaks: one that is heard, but never written. Reawakening hidden voices, it questions identity and a loss of cultural recognition.

Patois, is a new outdoor show exploring lost tongues, and celebrating language as a key to our past, our heart, our spirit. Languages hold histories and identities, but of the 6,700 spoken worldwide, at least 40% are in danger of extinction. More than half have no written form and every 14 days, one is lost. Patois, is about rediscovering hidden voices and identities rooted in languages buried within us. Rediscovery awakens past generations.
