This week the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the boundaries drawn to create a second black majority congressional district in Louisiana. If Mayor Cantrell read details about the decision in a newspaper it might have been published in Qatar where the mayor has reportedly been attending an economic forum. Meanwhile, back at home the local newspaper has been reporting on her extensive travels.

We will look at these stories including the latest from Audubon Zoo where there are a pair of new names to know. Plus, there was Carnival news this week as one krewe got its old route back while another lost having any route at all.

And at City Hall where there is smoke, sometimes it is because questions of firefighters’ pensions are flaming again.
