Alright, so there’s really a lot to say about this tage. It’s the biggest project I’ve ever done as well as the best gameplay I have ever had the pleasure of editing. It was supposed to be out over the summer, but then college happened.
Many of you may not have heard of Yoshi (this is his first big montage after all), but you’re not gonna forget him after this video. I, like many others, was first introduced to him through Kampy’s stream. Watching him go into a custom game lobby and just absolutely destroy everyone in the most casual way possible was absolutely hilarious. Not to mention that time that Kampy hosted him and he IMMEDIATELY hit the first Killionaire on the Halo 5 map, Fracture, resulting in one of the greatest chat pop offs that I have ever seen. After talking with him for a while, I learned that he had some insane MCC clips and no editor. Kampy would constantly say “I gotta make you a montage” after watching one of his ridiculous clips on stream, but you know…Kampy is Kampy (miss you pls come back). So, I ended up picking up the project while Yoshi hit plenty of clips along the way. Yoshi’s clips, in my opinion, are just unreal in this video. I had an absolute blast editing your insane gameplay man and I truly hope I did it justice.
I started this project back in March and went really quickly on it for a while. I synced all 4 songs in a matter of 2 weeks (tons of motivation and time back then). Then I ended up finishing both songs 1 and 4 before the summer completely…then I did Anomaly with Aaron…and then my motivation just hit a wall. I went a good month without touching this project at all. I started working on it again about 2 weeks before I left for college, but knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it in time. So, I transferred everything to my laptop (which was an absolute pain) and took the project with me to college…only to find out that college life and editing really don’t mix very well. I barely edited this video while I was at school, so here is where I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Cam (Noremac) for staging a ton of angles and sending them to me. It means a lot man, this project wouldn’t even be out this year if it wasn’t for you. So I guess this is kind of a dual-edit in some respects, most of the angles in song 2 and song 3 are from Cam.
The contest deadline quickly caught up to me and it was always in the back of my mind while I have been at school. So, about a week ago I decided to stop partying and start grinding. The past week has consisted of the most editing I have done since summer started. Song 1 and song 4 ended up being finished about 6 months before the other two were. That very last clip is a reaction from Kampy, Eli, Trunks, Ishii, Murph, and a few others to a 1st song render that I showed to them in Atlanta back in July. So long story short, I was able to submit it to the competition, definitely many months later than I wanted to, but I did it.
I honestly am super happy with how this video came out, I think this is some of my best editing work yet. It’s not perfect, and there are some mistakes that you’ll probably notice (which I couldn’t change because my workflow is trash), but overall I am very proud of how this video came out. I can’t thank Yoshi enough for being so patient with me throughout the whole process.
Overall, I am so happy to finally be able to show you guys what I have been working on throughout the majority of this year. This is gonna be my last "big" editing project for a while for sure, but I'll still be around when I can.
