This is a video to show some ideas to make a very quiet and small amp sounds more like a loud and big amp. By using a few effect pedals and some specific microphones placement, it is totally possible to achieve a great guitar tone at very low volume in non ideal space.
The gear used here for those who are curious :

Fender Blues Junior.
Cheap chinese copy of a Telecaster, with Fender 62 pickups inside.
Vemuram Jan Ray overdrive pedal,
Henretta Engineering Emerald Prince Preamp pedal (EP Booster type),
Jetter Gear Red2 double overdrive pedal,
Boo Instruments Tremolo pedal,
Boss DD2 Digital Delay pedal,
Arion Flanger pedal,
Maxon CP9+ Pro compressor pedal,
Sennheiser 421 microphone,
Shure 545 microphone,
Shure SM57 microphone,
Altec 1592B preamps,
Random and cheap cables,
Harley Benton Power Plant Junior power supply.

No EQ or Compression had been applied in post. The only EQ happens on the 421 microphones through the Altec Preamp, although it is not mandatory. And without it, the sound is a bit brighter and so might fit more some people tastes. I personally prefer more mellower sound that I can brighten up later on, instead of harsher sound I'll struggle to tame during the mix.
