This wing has totally blown me away.

I didn't quite know what to expect when I got it since I was coming off an Ozone Viper 5 and loved every minute of that wing. I was nervous and excited. The little experience I have on the Freeride 1 was enjoyable, but it never really drew me to get one. I have always seen myself as more of a cross-country / exploring pilot and the Viper 5 was built for that. So I wasn't sure if the Freeride 2 was really going to fit my "style".

Well let me tell you this - It took me less than 5 minutes to realize I loved the Freeride 2 more than I've loved any other wing. It's... freaking... amazing... It's not just a "fun" and agile wing, it's a rock solid, efficient, and easy-to-use wing. It's more solid / stable in turbulence than the Viper 5, it's faster than dang near everything else out there (53 mph), and my goodness it rips around so hard it brings out the little kid inside me.

There's a few things that I value in a wing for it to be my "daily driver". Firstly, I want a wing that is easy to use. I want a quick inflation, lift at slow speeds, and soft landings. I want it to be so easy to launch and land that I look forward to launching and landing it. I've had some fun wings in the past that I dread launching, and as a result, I never really flew them.

The second thing I value in a wing for it to be my "daily driver" is that I need to trust it in horrible weather. I push limits, I fly in rough conditions, I fly in thermals, bumps, rotor, wake, etc, and I want to be on a wing that I know has my back. A wing that is controllable, stable, and isn't trying to kill me. And the second I took the Freeride 2 into some wind sheer I knew It had my back. It's more solid than the previous Ozone wings I've flown. It's a rock solid wing through thick and thin turbulence. I've also watched a pilot collapse the Freeride 2 and it handled it beautifully.

(side note) One thing I've always like about Ozone wings is that really do prioritize safety. Every wing of theirs, advanced or new, are very focused on being safe for the end user. They are stable, easy to control, and recover from bad turbulence easily. As a pilot who fly's in bad weather regularly, I value that a lot.

The third thing I look for in a wing for it to be my "daily driver" is that it's efficient. I want a wing that's not going to gulp my fuel and fall out of the sky like a brick. I have a classic case of "range anxiety" and I love the fact that this Freeride 2 is extremely efficient. My cruising rpm's are around 5600, and the glide slope it has is phenomenal.

If you are on the fence about getting a freeride 2, get it. Trust me - the only thing you'll regret is not getting it sooner. Two minutes into flying it and you'll know you made the right choice. It's that good.
