Rhine Railway Lines are considered some of the most important train lines in Europe. There are three train lines between Köln und Frankfurt. Two of them run along the Rhein, Linke und Rechte Rheinstrecke (left and right sides of the river), and the third one is the nearby High Speed Line. Focusing on the Rheinstrecke, Passenger trains are frequent on the left side (Linke), whilst freight / cargo trains usually run through the right side (Rechte). Anyway, train drivers can drive by any of the two lines as deviations are sometimes required for repairing works or incidents.
