Marbyllia is the newly formed free improvising duo of Margaret Maria (cello) and Bill Gilliam (piano) that creates these spontaneous musical creations on the spot. 'The Unexpected Insight' is one the segments created on the spot, of a four segment improv that lasted 45 minutes. With no preplanning, Margaret Maria and Bill just sat down in front of a live audience and this music emerged.

'For me, sitting and creating something from nothing with a responsive spirit like Bill's is an absolute all encompassing cerebral and musical endeavour. Music just ebbs and flows and we find so many musical spaces and landscapes emerging. Listening back, it's hard to believe it was just made in the moment, as you can hear a shape and form take place in repeat hearings, but the initial exploration and evolution is one of my favourite things to do...and going on this expedition with Bill is both a safe environment and exhilarating journey!" - Margaret Maria
