You all need to watch and share this story. It is by far the most important news about the EU this year (yes, really) it is about the copyright legislation - #Article11 #Article13 - that will enable the EU to clamp down on all the various freedoms of speech and expression that have driven the development of the internet as ultimate repository of knowledge and entertainment that we have come to take for granted.

Some tweaking of the rules was always expected, but this is a comprehensive bundle of regulations that will guarantee the zealots will always be able to find some way to take down videos of Junker wobbling about after a "good lunch", and the intemperate rantings of Guy Verhofstadt as he demands complete surrender to the EU.

It is a very scary and very blunt instrument.

Since as we know that 99.9999% of all content is abject garbage, an ENORMOUS amount of costly effort to fingerprint and monitor this crap will be wasted. Lawyers who thought GDPR was all their Christmases at once, will again be pinching themselves....
