Hepatitis Scotland, in partnership with the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), offered a unique experience for people diagnosed with hepatitis C.

As part of the MRC Festival of Medical Research, an opportunity was given to hepatitis C patients to meet with some of the world-leading researchers working on hepatitis C research in Glasgow.

Glasgow has played a key role in virus research since the 1940s and the CVR has an incredibly dedicated team who devote their careers to researching the hepatitis C virus.

The CVR’s expert scientists took patients on the path of a blood sample during an exclusive tour of the CVR’s world-class research facilities and showed the variety of ways it could be used in research.

This was a fantastic and unique opportunity to learn about the key areas of research and about the milestones and discoveries that have led to breakthrough treatments.
