This consultancy project, funded by Cambridge Assessment International Education, created a new and innovative secondary physical education Scheme of Work (SoW) for the 11-12 age range.

Dr Beaumont was approached to design a ‘course of study’ that would replace the outdated physical education curriculums used in many countries. This fully sustainable age-specific SoW is suitable for use by both physical education specialist teachers and non-specialist teaching staff, can be used by bilingual learners and staff, and is sensitive to cultural contexts.

The SoW was implemented in September 2019, with its global reach evident through its use in over 140 developed, developing, and least developed countries worldwide. It is providing educators with contemporary and evidence-based activities that will enable many young people to develop the health literacy and competencies to support them in making informed decisions about their future lifestyle activities and the confidence to be active throughout their lifespan.
