Dr. Moctar Sacandé is a seed research scientist and an amateur botanist. He has published extensively on the subject and has managed several international research projects on tropical tree species. He is the author of 'Comparative storage biology of tropical tree seeds' (2004). Moctar has led several research collaborations and botanical expeditions for seed collecting of flora species in West Africa, Southern Africa and Madagascar, where he also coordinates the country programmes for Kew's Millennium Seed Bank. He has a passion for turning seed science into practice and has been supporting communities in Africa for several years to grow their own native plant species.
