The Kottayam Bird Sanctuary, officially known as the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, is located along the Vembanad Lake in Kottayam, Kerala.

Spread over 14 acres, it is a popular haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers.

The sanctuary is home to numerous species of resident and migratory birds, including kingfishers, herons, egrets, and teals.

During the migratory season, one can spot Siberian storks and other birds from the Himalayas and Siberia.

The sanctuary offers peaceful trails for birdwatching and is best visited during the early mornings or late evenings for optimal sightings.

It also features boat rides for a closer view of birdlife.
