St Dennis Bands - West of England Bandsmen's Festival, Bugle, 18/6/16

The annual Bugle Contest, unique in the brass band calendar.
First we see the St Dennis Youth Band on the morning march to the contest field followed by the senior band on their morning march, performance of the contest march ORB by Charles Anderson, a snippet of the test piece - Variations on a Ninth by Gilbert Vinter and then, following victory on both pieces, their march back up Fore Street for the special 'Lap of Honour' outside The Bugle Inn in front of a large crowd whilst the traffic on the A391 waits patiently!
The crowd is treated to the hymn tune Great Soul, the delightful march Park Head, written for the band by a former conductor John Brush, and, following tradition, a rendition of Handel Parker's hymn tune Deep Harmony brings things to a close after a great day's banding.
