We set-up and review the FK Irons Spektra Flux wireless tattoo machine and talk you through its features.
The Spektra Flux follows on from the popular Xion rotary and marks the first wireless tattoo machine from the guys behind FK Irons and DarkLab.
Powering the FK Irons Spektra Flux is a detachable battery known as a PowerBolt, which allows artists to run their machine wirelessly without the need for cables or power supplies. As it's interchangeable, you can quickly and easily switch to an auxilliary battery (sold separately) when the charge runs out.
It offers fast charging speeds of up to 1.5 Amps and a run time lasting up to 10 hours, depending on the type of cartridge and voltage used.
The FK Irons Spektra Flux is Bluetooth-enabled, which means that you can pair it with DarkLab's Hover power supply and app. You can use the DarkLab app to wirelessly update the Flux with the latest firmware, making it future-proof.

Hey guys, Liam from Killer Ink here, and today I’m giving you a first look at the new Spektra Flux.
The Flux is Spektra’s latest rotary machine and is set to bring a wireless revolution to the tattooing industry.
So let’s take a look…
Following on from the popular Xion and Xion Gorilla, the Spektra Flux is a rotary tattoo machine that features a detachable battery, known as a PowerBolt.
The beauty of the PowerBolt is that it allows artists to run their Flux wirelessly without the need for cables or power supplies. As it’s interchangeable, you can quickly and easily swap to another PowerBolt when the charge runs out, so you can keep working on your tattoo with no problems. The running time lasts up to 10 hours, but this will depend on the type of cartridge and voltage used.
The PowerBolt features a lithium-ion battery with a USB-C connection and Dynamic Power-Path Management, which allows for simultaneous battery charging and power delivery. It also offers fast charging speeds of up to 1.5 Amps, so you’ll have it fully charged and back powering your machine in no time, while the higher energy density of the PowerBolt provides reliability and stability.
As you can see, the PowerBolt has various buttons that allow you to adjust the voltage quickly and easily, as well a battery capacity and voltage LED indicator here.
Press the up and down arrows to change the voltage in 0.5 Volt increments or decrements from 5 to 12 Volts. The colour of the LED corresponds to the voltage chart. When you see a blinking light, that means that it is on .5, so for example, the blinking red light here tells me that it is running at 8.5 volts.
Finally, for those travelling by flight, you can choose to ‘killswitch’ the machine, like so… This stops the Flux from being switched on accidentally, so your machine can safely be carried on the plane with you. To ‘wake’ it up again, all you need to do is plug a USB-C cable in...
The Spektra Flux is Bluetooth-enabled, which means that you can pair it with DarkLab’s latest Hover power supply and upcoming app. You’ll be able to use the DarkLab app to wirelessly update your Flux with the latest firmware, making it future proof, as well as any cool new features they may release!
Topping the scales at 181 grams means that the Flux is easy to use and more comfortable over long tattooing sessions. In addition, this machine is very quiet and creates extremely minimal vibration.
The Spektra Flux is a direct drive tattoo machine that offers no give and a 4 millimetre stroke, which allows it to excel in lining, shading and colour packing. To adjust the needle depth, simply turn the click grip like so…
Made in the USA by the guys behind DarkLab and FK Irons, the Flux is set to be an exciting addition to Spektra’s range of rotaries and we can’t wait for it to be released.
Make sure to keep an eye on the Killer Ink website via the link in the description below for all updates regarding the Flux, as well as DarkLab’s other new products, the Hover power supply and Lightning Bolt wireless battery pack.
So, now that you’ve had your first look at the Spektra Flux, what do you think?
