This is LEGO model 6841 “Mineral Detector” (AKA Survey Vehicle) from the original Space Collection. Research shows this was released in 1980 and consisted of about 44 pieces. This is part of a private collection consisting of every LEGO Space model between 1978 and 1981. The collection was limited to this period because of the simplicity and style. After this period more complex pieces and additional color combinations were introduced as the line continues to evolve. Most of this collection was purchased at the time each kit was released. The remaining kits were purchased more recently to complete the collection.

This is a great kit with one spaceman, a small six-wheeled vehicle with moveable front detector dishes, a computer terminal in front of the driver, and a rear antenna. Other fun details include a side walkie-talkie holder, green dish lights, red vehicle lights and a roll bar — classic LEGO attention to detail.
