Jeff: Hi this is Jeff Steup from Midtown Properties and this is our very first interview in a new series we have called Talk Steup. Today we have a very impressive young lady with us, Gigi Canale, who is a local middle school student in our area and she is doing something very , very special for the Hurricane Florence relief. How are you doing today?
Gigi: I am good, how are you?
Jeff: Good! Thank you so much for being here. Tell us a little bit about what you are doing to help the people from Hurricane Florence.
Gigi: When I first heard about Florence, I got a ton of emails through my cadet program about going and helping with it, and then I found out you had to be 15 and I am only 14. And I decided that I wanted to do something, that I wasn’t just going to sit around, so I got on the computer and I created a design for t-shirts and now I am selling them.
Jeff: That’s awesome! What was your big inspiration behind doing this?
GigI: I just really wanted to do something that would help the people out. All of the proceeds are going to the American Red Cross, and I know a few of our friends who go to Wilmington University and they all got impacted a lot by the storm and I really just want to help them out.
Jeff: Tell us a little bit about how you came up with the design for the t-shirt.
Gigi: After going online for a little bit trying to find the ribbon for hurricane awareness, I finally found out that it was dark blue so I knew I wanted my t-shirts to be dark blue. And then Project FLO stands for FOR the LOVE of OTHERS and the two Carolinas and the heart and the swooshes are where the hurricane hit, so that’s pretty much the meaning behind the design.
Jeff: That’s is so super awesome! Thank you so much for doing that. I know everybody affected by it will really appreciate it.
