The STIHL HSA 50 is a new cordless hedge trimmer in the AK System of battery tools. Sitting below the more powerful HSA 60 battery powered hedge trimmer, it is the ideal tool for looking after hedges around the garden thanks to its lightweight design and long working times.

The cutting length of the STIHL HSA 50 hedge trimmer is 50cm, which means you can work quickly and it helps achieve a precise, flat finish on the hedge. Our cutting blades are laser cut, diamond ground and hardened for long lasting sharpness and a clean cut. The wide 30mm tooth spacing means it’s capable of cutting new growth up to 15mm in diameter, roughly the equivalent to a year's growth depending on the hedge variety.

The patented blade design features a tear-drop shaped anvil, helping to hold in the material as its cut, and a tip protector prevents damage to the blades if you’re cutting near to the ground or along a wall. You can re-sharpen the blades yourself with a high-quality flat file, alternatively a STIHL approved dealer would be happy to do this for you.

STIHL Superclean is perfect for looking after STIHL hedge trimmer blades, as not only does it offer lubrication, it’s also able to dissolve resin too keeping the blades in excellent condition. Just spray STIHL Superclean across the blades and run the hedge trimmer for a few seconds after each use.

The motor and gearbox give ample power for dealing with larger hedges around the garden, and thanks to the intelligent battery management system you won’t get a reduction in power if the battery charge is low. Instead, the power will be consistent all the way through the charge, behaving just like a petrol STIHL hedge trimmer.

Weighing only 3.7 kg with the recommended STIHL AK 10 battery, the HSA 50 battery powered hedge trimmer is lightweight and well balanced. The positioning of the battery and handles has been optimised to be as comfortable as possible, reducing fatigue when trimming larger hedges. The handles have excellent grip thanks to the soft rubberised material and are large enough to be used easily with gloves on. The cordless HSA 50 hedge trimmer also has an easy to pull switch on the front handle, making it easy to hold at any angle.

Like many other battery powered tools in the STIHL AK System, you can choose a battery to offer you the right working time. We recommend the HSA 50 with the STIHL AK 10 battery which will give up to 55 minutes of working time on each charge. If you need more than this however you can opt for the AK 20 or AK 30 battery. And like all our AK System tools, the battery powered HSA 50 hedge trimmer is so quiet you don’t need to worry about wearing ear protection.
