This is the skin-crawling moment a spider wasp dragged a paralysed Tarantula back to its lair.

Biologist Sebastian Hoefer from Cape Eleuthera Institute captured the fascinating interaction between prey and predator in Eleuthera, the Bahamas on January 19.

The insect is a Tarantula hawk, a type of spider wasp that specifically targets the feared arachnid.

Sebastian said: ''It looked like the spider hawk was dragging the paralysed tarantula over the road.''

Insect enthusiasts watching the video said that is is ''might rare'' for tarantulas to win when they come up against their dreaded predator.

''Most of the time they get wrecked,'' one person said.

Spider wasps, or Pompilidae, prey mainly on Tarantulas and other large spiders.
