EON (National Youth Organisation) was the youth wing of the 4th of August Regime (1936-1941) created by Ioannis Metaxas. Its stated goals were helping the youth in the productive spending of their free time and cultivating their national values and cooperative spirit

Some of the activities that EON members were involved in included athletics events, parades and marches, military training, reforestations and recycling

The known to us today "Nazi" salute was used by the members of EON but under the idea that it was a symbol of continuity of the Ancient Greek civilisation and not for praising or supporting national socialism in any way. The salute was even used against fighting Germany and Italy during WW2
