It's been great following Lyriaki's works the last few years. This seems like it's my 7th time uploading a level by them. While their levels all have some visual similarities, such as in overall style, leaning towards modern, and colors, by using a lot of white, they are still quite unique compared to each other. When you play a level like In Defiance, Lyriaki should easily be one of the first people you guess to have made this, but not because it looks exactly like their other works, but because of how unique it is while staying true to their style. That's a very good thing in my opinion; it means their levels are recognizable but not repetitive.

The song choice here lends itself very well to the level. In that sense, it's kinda similar to the level by R3XX3R that I uploaded yesterday. Perhaps I should say that the level lends itself well to the song as that's the order it's made in. Some creators, like Lyriaki, are masters at matching their levels to the songs they pick. That's evident in every part here to me, especially in the pulses, but I'd like to highlight the part at 0:25 in particular. Here, the gameplay is quite unclear and partly invisible at times. However, the white glow that pulses to song lights up the gameplay just enough to lead you further. It's timed perfectly to make the part sightreadable. Of course, the lanterns that swing as you hit them are a very nice touch too. For the climax of the level, we have the part at 0:55, which contrasts the earlier black parts completely in color by being almost completely white. Contrasting colors like this is commonly seen in Lyriaki levels. My only minor complaint about this level is that this part feels like it drags on a little too long. It does change colors and the glow that moves by speeds up, but I wish it changed even more for a part that's 45 seconds long. The outro is nice and clean, being very similar to the intro except with contrasting colors.

As of recording this, the level hasn't been rated yet, but as of writing this, it has been rated. When I played it, I figured somewhere around 3 to 4 Stars would be good, and it's received a 3 Star rating now. Perhaps more important for discussion is the fact that it only got a Featured rating. I'm curious what you guys think about this choice. Do you think this could have received an Epic rating or are you content with a Featured rating? I understand that this level isn't too crazy and a bit slow compared to your usual Epic rated levels, but I think it's difficult to make a level this easy too crazy without making it harder in turn. As mentioned, the gameplay is very sightreadable, and while the visuals are simple, it looks good throughout with every part complimenting each other well for an overall neat package. As always, I'm excited to see what Lyriaki makes next.
