Named after the Spanish Naval Officer who charted the Juan de Fuca Strait, Mt Quimper is a tough but rewarding climb. The summit was used as a forest fire lookout so there is nearly a 360 degree view, and the fire outpost is still standing. Sign your name in the log book, or carve it into the wall!

The first half of the trail is on a washed out road, so you make good time. The second half, especially in the summer, is much tougher. Steep sections, wide open to the sun, and there usually isnt much wind untill you reach the summit. BRING LOTS OF WATER. There is a route up the north side of the hill which would keep you out of the sun, but you have to walk the flat-wide-boring gravel road for a while longer, and thats not what Im out there for.
