There is something special happening in Jamaica as far as the women’s sprint world is concerned. And we can’t afford to wrap it under the carpet. Actually, a new star is rising in the world of women’s sprint events, and that star is ready to disrupt the status quo! Jamaica’s Tia Clayton has just proved to the whole world that the Caribbean is for sure the land of sprint stars. And even though a section of the track community thought Jamaica’s dominance over the women’s sprint events was over with the retirement of the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Tia Clayton has just proved them all wrong.
See, growing up, not many track fans believed in Tia Clayton… In fact, it was her twin sister Tina Clayton who was preferred to take over the sprint world, considering that she was the most dominant, especially in junior events. But in a shocking turn of events, Tia Clayton has just taken over and she is dominating the women’s sprint events in a way that shows she is not stopping!
The 20-year-old signaled her intent to break out this season when she dominated the indoor 60 meters, clocking a new season’s best of 7.18 seconds.
