Bridging Cultures in Agusan Valley, Philippines | Ride N' Seek Philippines S4

Jaime makes it to the Agusan uplands, where she marks the end of her quest to find the Babaylan — warrior priestesses that serve as the bridge between the spirits of the forest and the physical world. The few remaining Babaylans are also said to posses the power to weave a tapestry using the threads of a person’s past, and also serve as a guide for the future.

Jaime meets a Babaylan who makes her a garment. As the Babaylans embroider Jaime’s garment, she discovers more about Manobo customs, from their warrior dances to their stories enlivened by the bonfire.

And finally, the Babaylan presents Jaime’s garment, recognising her as one of their own. The Babaylan also calls on the forest spirits for Jaime’s safety. Finally, Jaime comes across a large fishing vessel that speaks of her future voyages.
