In Season 14 of Shark Tank, Josh pitched LavaBox, asking for a $200,000 investment in exchange for 10% of his business.
Josh, an outdoor lover, wanted a safe, eco-friendly way to enjoy campfires without the risk of wildfires. In 2020, he came up with the idea for LavaBox, a portable campfire made from a military-style ammo can. Using a propane system and ceramic rocks, LavaBox creates a clean, easy-to-use fire.
He shared that his most popular product, the Takana Twosome, sold for $195, with production costs of about $29 per unit. The Sharks loved the simple and safe design.
Lori Greiner offered $200,000 for 12.5% ownership and a $0.75 royalty per unit until her investment was repaid. Josh agreed, excited to partner with Lori to grow his business.
Since the show, LavaBox has thrived. Its Shark Tank appearance boosted sales. By 2022, the company earned over $1 million in revenue and was on track to double that by 2024. With a business valuation of around $2 million, LavaBox remains a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts.
