Samsung phones offer robust multi-window and split-screen capabilities, allowing you to use two apps simultaneously. Here's a breakdown of how to use it, along with other multitasking features:
1. Split-Screen View (Two Apps Side-by-Side/Top-Bottom)
This is the most common way to use multiple apps at once.
From Recent Apps:
Open the first app you want to use.
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen and hold (or tap the Recents button, usually a square icon). This will show your recently used apps.
Find the app you want to use in split screen and tap on its app icon at the very top of its preview (not the preview itself).
From the pop-up menu, select "Open in split screen view."
The first app will move to the top half of the screen. Now, select the second app you want to use from the bottom half of the screen (either from your recent apps or by navigating through your app drawer).
Using the Edge Panel (if enabled):
Drag the Edge panel handle (a small tab usually on the right side of your screen) towards the center to open it.
Tap and hold the app you want to use, then drag it to the top or bottom of the screen until "Drop here to open" appears.
Then, drag the second app from the Edge panel to the remaining empty space.
Using a Two-Finger Gesture (on some models/One UI versions):
If enabled in your settings (Settings - Advanced features - Multi window - "Swipe for split screen"), you can often swipe up with two fingers from the bottom of the screen to activate split-screen.
Then, choose your two apps.
2. Pop-Up View (Floating Window)
This allows an app to run in a resizable, floating window over your main screen, while you use another app in full screen.
From Recent Apps:
Swipe up from the bottom and hold (or tap the Recents button).
Tap on the app icon of the app you want to open in pop-up view.
Select "Open in pop-up view."
You can then drag the top bar of the pop-up window to move it around, and drag its corners to resize it.
Using the Edge Panel (if enabled):
Drag the Edge panel handle towards the center.
Tap and hold the app you want, then drag it to the middle of the screen until "Drop here for pop-up view" appears.
