When MOV files glitch out, don’t panic! There are ways to make them work again. Of course, you may have to convert the whole video first. Or just try a better player.

Speaking of better players, this one here is simply excellent! If a MOV has non-standard codecs, Elmedia will play it all the same. Its other compatible formats include MKV, AVI, WMV, and many others, with all their possible codecs.

There are lots of features in Elmedia Player that can be used to fix issues. For instance, there’s a deinterlacing filter that helps with stripey DVD movies. Sound desync is a common problem, and guess what - Elmedia has manual audio and subtitle sync. It’s great!

Elmedia PRO is even better in this regard, since you can use the audio equalizer and video tuner to adjust other things, like Brightness and Hue. Some movies absolutely need this! And I can’t neglect to mention how easy it is to stream over DLNA and AirPlay 2.

All in all, I’d rather not go through the trouble of conversion, and start with the player. But it’s really up to you in the end. In some cases, file repair will be necessary; in others, it will be completely impossible.

As a side note, one of the possible causes of file corruption is broken RAM. If large downloads or file transfers are frequently corrupted on your system, check your sticks! And replace them if they turn out to be defective.

Cinepak is now an obsolete video codec. It has been replaced by new ones.
