A powerful super typhoon has struck Hainan, a popular tourist destination in southern China, unleashing winds of up to 245 kilometer per hour and heavy rainfall that threatens widespread devastation. Typhoon Yagi, which hit Wenchang city in the northeast of the island at around 4:00 pm local time on Friday, is reported to be the strongest typhoon to make landfall in China during the autumn in decades, according to state media.
