Crossing Lukla | Day 01 EBC and Three Passes Trek Nepal

The trail to EBC starts from Bupsa and I guess it makes sense to start the trek from Lukla. Instead of crossing Lukla on foot, I would suggest everybody to fly to Lukla from Kathmandu.

The rain won't stop at all on the first day of the EBC and Three Passes Trek. We were forced to hike with our umbrellas and raincoats ON. We covered a total distance of 22 km between the villages of Kharikhola and Cheplung.

The trail was mainly bad road until Bupsa (3 km) and then we were on a mix of path and trail until Cheplung.

Learnings from today's trail:
a) Umbrella ☂️ and raincoat 🧥 are amazing combination to protect your bag and yourself from rain.
b) The bag should not weigh more than 5 Kg while you are hiking the EBC or 3 passes route.
c) Even in mid-October one can experience rain 🌧️ so keep all your stuff inside the backpack in polybags and also carry raincoats, raincovers, ☂️ and ziplocks.
d) Try staying in lesser known villages along the trail for a better experience.
