While F-35s were not involved in the strikes, the Hermes 450 drone that reportedly killed the aid workers was powered by a R902(W) Wankel engine – made in UK by Elbit’s UAV Engines Ltd based in Bristol, Sam Perlo-Freeman from the Campaign Against Arms Trade told i. An Elbit Systems UK spokesperson told i the company, its subsidiaries and joint ventures were “not involved in the Hermes 450 programme”. The US F-35 sale comes alongside a proposed $18bn deal to send American-made F-15 fighter jets Israel.
