Original theme music for the DC comics superhero Nightwing, otherwise known as Dick Grayson - the first Robin.

Nightwing has always been my favourite superhero but has never had an identifiable theme in any media outside of the animated New Batman Adventures, composed by Shirley Walker, which is a bit too cartoony to be used as Nightwing's standard theme. I've decided to rectify this by composing an original theme that could fit an animated series, movie, game or be the perfect companion to reading Chuck Dixon's Nightwing comic run. To give it authenticity it incorporates the main motif and elements from the Shirley Walker theme, slowed down and simplified to make it more cinematic. Other sources of inspiration in composing this theme include the use of electric guitars, from Teen Titans (and slight melodic references to the main theme for the show) and Young Justice, metal and wood percussive elements intended to emulate Nightwing's escrima sticks, as well as sections designed after the Arkham combat challenge maps music. In fact, playing Arkham City Nightwing challenge maps with this theme in the background was one of the steps I took to make sure it fit the character and setting.
