Fiber vs Cable Internet - Which Internet Option Is Best? (Watch This Before You Choose!). In this comparison video I will talk about Fiber vs Cable Internet.
So, the main difference between them is the transmission speed.
Fiber optic cables have small strands of glass within them with the diameter of hair. The strands are wrapped together in a bundle and are used to transmit the fiber optic cable data in light pulses. Light moves at a very high speed within a short time. Co-axial cables, on the other hand, transmit data with the help of electrical pulses. Electricity moves at a slower speed than light.
Fiber optic, therefore, transmits data at a higher speed than cable internet.
Cost
Due to its quality, fiber optic is the most expensive type of internet. The qualities include its speed, which is the highest compared to cable. In addition, fiber internet requires special skills to install and work with, translating to expensive human resources. The cable network, on the other hand, is cheaper due to its lower quality. Additionally, the co-axial cables can be installed without special skills.
Cable internet, therefore, is the option if you have less cash.
Availability
Fiber optic internet has been introduced recently. Fiber is not so widely installed or found since it is still penetrating the market. Cable networks, on the other hand, have been around for a long time compared to fiber. It is installed in most locations around the globe.
Therefore, cable internet is readily available compared to fiber optic.
But do they have any similarities?
Yes. Both fiber optic and cable are designed to provide internet service. Customers or companies can comfortably install fiber optics due to its speed but have co-axial cable internet for redundancy, as fiber cables are more likely to break compared to co-axial cables.
So, to sum up, which is better- Fiber or cable internet?
Fiber cable has an awe-inspiring speed feature. They can transmit data at a very high speed due to using light pulses as the transmission mode. However, I choose cable internet as the most appropriate due to its availability. Additionally, cable internet is cheaper to acquire, use, and maintain.
