The Subaru Legacy joins the 2019 Outback in adding EyeSight as standard; the system includes adaptive cruise control, automatic forward emergency braking, pre-collision warning and lane keep assist. This brings the Legacy and Outback up to par with Toyota vehicles — previously the only cars to offer this kind of comprehensive safety features as standard — and it's a trend we hope to see spread beyond Subaru and Toyota.

The Subaru Legacy sedan will still have two engine options: a 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter boxer flat four-cylinder and a 256-hp, 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine (boxer means the cylinders are horizontally opposed in a flat configuration), with the larger six-cylinder only offered on the line-topping Limited trim level. In ascending order, the trim levels are 2.5i (base), 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited, with the number beforehand specifying the engine. All come with CVT and all-wheel drive as standard equipment.
