Blockchain Technology in Real Estate Transactions
Lee Bratcher from the Texas Blockchain Council joins the Divas to discuss Blockchain Technology and the impact it will have on real estate investing.
 
If you’re in real estate it would depend on your role in the industry on how it would affect you. If you’re an investor it would be a dream come true to hear the real estate tokenization. But a downside of it is that blockchain technology will cut intermediaries out and that would hit the agents and everyone working on the real estate transaction process. Although there are a lot of opportunities and advantages in using this technology like smart contracts to automatically trigger actions, or in our cases, steps in a real estate deal. 

Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. In real estate use, it connects buyers with sellers directly and uses digital tokens instead of money to create more transparency and minimize obstacles in the buying/selling process cutting intermediaries out of the real estate transactions, thereby reducing costs.
But despite the number of opportunities blockchain presents, it will likely still be years before we see blockchain widely and entirely used in the mainstream real estate industry.
