At age 4, Alexander was adopted from Romania, where he contracted polio that paralyzed his left leg. Shortly after arriving to his new home in the United States, his adoptive parents brought him to Scottish Rite for Children for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks in part to Scottish Rite, which was founded in 1921 to treat children with polio, this state-champion gymnast has not allowed his paralysis to keep him out of the game or the winner’s circle.
