My anxiety gone? How to deal with anxiety. Before coming to Rock House Center I was a part of so many facets of ministry, teaching and coaching. I was a part of High School Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Marriage Ministries, Discipleship groups for myself and then rapidly finding guys that I was discipling, not fully realizing how far I was getting into stress and anxiety. Like an iceberg everything looked fine on the surface but underneath everything I was trying to accomplish in the flesh ended me up in the hospital thinking I was dying. They said there was nothing wrong with me, but there absolutely was. I was so overwhelmed with stress and anxiety I had no idea how to cope with the stress, or how to deal with the anxiety, and I was so overstimulated the stress was manifesting in my body. I couldn't even walk around the block without being so tired I had to come back in the house and lay down.
Former players would ask me to officiate their wedding and one of them wasn't doing so well and I said I would help them find a place to get some help. Another friend and his wife had moved to Nashville to try to help his wife get better and get to the root of her depression and that's how I found Rock House Center. Her testimony and what happened through her journey really encouraged me so I grew the courage to call for this other couple who was needing some help, but the Lord told me if they ask you to come in, go in. When I started their process I came in with a 10/10 anxiety level and felt like a tangled mess, but after only six months I left and my anxiety went down to a 2 with no medication. I was surprised and saw how much God works and how effective it is, its supernatural, an actual miracle.
I went in to Rock House Center to take care of myself because I was drowning but all of a sudden I start to see the byproduct of the change all around me. It started by affecting my marriage, just in how it felt, and raising boys, it helped my parenting. Everything that has happened as a result, I still cannot count all of the treasures from it.
If you're watching this (or reading this) and considering coming in for Biblical Counseling it is the best decision you will ever make. As your heart is healed and delivered the byproduct is everything you want in life. It does take courage to even make the first call, many hear the lie that, "I'm okay where I'm at, I'm a leader and a dad, others may need this but I don't, I can't get help." I bought that lie and it ended me up in the hospital, but you don't have to. You have permission to heal, a season to go deeper and see what God has for you, it's the deepest richness you'll every feel.
