Wavestar was a British synthesizer duo consisting of Dave Ward-Hunt, and John Dyson (born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, in 1948). They self released their first beautifully melodic sequencer-driven (cassette) album, 'Mind Journey', in 1984 which was met with critical acclaim by many, and soon the two were playing live at concerts such as UK Electronica. The duo soon released their second (self-released cassette) album 'Zenith' in '85. Their 3rd album 'Moonwind' was released on vinyl LP in 1987 on the Audion label. The spacey progressive electronic keyboard sounds of Wavestar's (Berlin School / Space Ambient) sequencer rhythms and melodies resemble the music of Tangerine Dream, Nightcrawlers or Michael Garrison. Wavestar were split up in 1989 due to a variety of issues. Dyson continued to work solo, releasing albums and contributing to various compilations. Dave Ward-Hunt died in 1999.
