Thanks for tuning in! This video is really just a test of my new office setup, so please forgive my sloppy appearance. (I was fixing my furnace right before shooting this test.) And ignore the poorly framed and focused shots from camera 2 (doh!). Anyway, I wanted to shoot a "before" clip of a really special drum for me: a 5.5x14 3-ply Slingerland Hollywood Ace snare that I originally borrowed from my uncle between 1994 and 1997 before returning it to him so his oldest son could use it in school band. He recently gave it back to me, and I don't think anyone has touched it since I had it. It still has an old Remo Ambassador Coated batter that I put on it, as well as a super-worn Pearl Export bottom head and some janky Ludwig wires I nabbed from the Acrolite I was using for concert band at the time. The hoops aren't original...not sure what happened to the Slingerland Rim Shot hoops. I tuned it to C# over F#, which is pretty much my medium starting point for any drum. I'm going to be fixing this drum up for a project with www.drumfactorydirect.com, so be sure to follow their Instagram, Facebook (Meta?), and YouTube channels if you're curious to see and hear this old dog once it's closer to its original luster.
