1. Primordial prevention starts before emergence of risk factor.
2. Primary prevention starts when risk factor is there and is done to prevent the emergence of disease.
3. Secondary prevention is done to prevent disease from progressing into advanced stages.
4. Tertiary prevention is done to limit disability and provide rehabilitation.
