Richard Heinberg is a Senior Fellow of Post Carbon Institute and is widely regarded as one of the world's foremost energy educators. He is the author of eleven books including The End of Growth (August 2011), and the upcoming Snake Oil: How Fracking's False Promise of Plenty Imperils Our Future (July 2013). He has authored scores of essays and articles, and has spoken to hundreds of audiences in 14 countries. Richard's animations, Don't Worry, Drive On; Who Killed Economic Growth?; and 300 Years of Fossil Fuels in 300 Seconds (winner of YouTube's DoGooder Video of the Year Award) have been viewed by 1.5 million people.

Richard Heinberg's latest landmark work, The End of Growth, goes to the heart of the ongoing financial crisis, explaining how and why it occurred, and what we must do to avert the worst potential outcomes. He describes what policymakers, communities, and families can do to build a new economy that operates within Earth's budget of energy and resources. We can thrive during the transition if we set goals that promote human and environmental well being, rather than continuing to pursue the now-unattainable prize of ever-expanding GDP.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
