Sion is a wonderful little town (population 34,708) that is located almost directly between Chamonix and Zermatt. The hilltop fortifications with the scenic mountain backdrop are truly a site to see. Also the drive from Sion to Tasch is a very scenic one, If you plan on seeing Zermatt and the Matterhorn.
