Orphans of the Earth ~Saving Formosan Black Bears

Описание к видео Orphans of the Earth ~Saving Formosan Black Bears

More than half of the Formosan Black Bears have lost paws or toes! Dr. Mei-Hsiu Hwang, nicknamed “Mother Black Bear”, started her research of the Formosan Black Bears 20 years ago in the Central Mountain Range and found out the secrets in the depth of the Forests. Illegal hunting has turned the bears’ habitat into suffering hell. Albeit Dr. Hwang’s active advocacy on the extinction of the bears and the following ecological disasters, the public remains negligent. It wasn’t until a little cub named Buni, who was separated from her mother, appeared in the Nanan Waterfall, that people started to grow the awareness of the animal's plight.
《Orphans of the Earth》production team spent two years following the lives of bears, breaking through various challenges in the Big Snow Mountain and Jade Mountain. The film documented the process of capture, handling and release of black bears, and the release-to-wild trainings of the bear cub. This special documentary episode will lift the veils of the spirited-away Formosan Black Bears, in true flesh and blood.
