Rush - 2112 - 8-Bit NES-style remix

Описание к видео Rush - 2112 - 8-Bit NES-style remix

Ten years ago, I uploaded a silly little video to Youtube - the Rush song Hemispheres in 8-bit format. I don't remember why I did it, and I can't precisely remember exactly the circumstances around what inspired me to continue, but I think there was a Reddit comment somewhere that told me to (at the very least) share my retro-style cover, and one thing lead to another!

It's been an incredible decade - a lot has changed in my life since that first upload, but this channel has remained a steady anchor throughout everything. I can only thank every single one of you for sticking with these daft things all these years. I still can't quite believe that there are so many of you out there who are interested in listening to this extremely niche corner of the internet - I thought it was just me!

When I realised a few months ago that this was in fact the ten year anniversary of my first Rush 8-bit cover, there was only really one song I could do to celebrate. Here it is! I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I did making it.

Here's to the next ten years.

I adhered to the NES limit of 4 maximum simultaneous sounds (technically it's 5, but I use two combined for the kick drum as did most NES composers), which means that in order to accurately represent the chords, I had to arpeggiate some parts and harmonise with the bass in others. I made the image by tracing over the original album cover and by applying what I could discover about NES colour palettes.
