Quantum Chemistry 1.3 - Rydberg Formula

Описание к видео Quantum Chemistry 1.3 - Rydberg Formula

Short lecture on the Rydberg formula.

When hydrogen atoms are heated, photons are emitted with distinct sets of wavelengths. These wavelengths form multiple series of increasingly close lines up to a threshold. Lyman, Balmer, and Paschen independently discovered formulas which predict the frequencies in their series. Rydberg determined one overall equation which predicts the position of all spectral lines, depending on the Rydberg constant and two discrete positive integer values, or "quantum numbers".
