Описание к видео Tamagusari: The Lethal Ball & Chain of the Samurai

Here, Seki Sensei demonstrates how the ancient warriors of Japan used the Tamagusari, or ball and chain, to defend themselves against a sword. The Tamagusari, a unique and versatile weapon used by samurai warriors for centuries, is showcased in this video as we dive deep into traditional techniques. Watch as we explore the powerful and fluid movements that made the Tamagusari an essential part of the samurai’s combat arsenal.

Seki Sensei is a true treasure in the martial arts world, holding an 8th Dan in Iaido and the prestigious title of 22nd headmaster of Kobudo Asayama Ichiden Ryu. His dedication began early—starting Kendo at age 3, Iaido at 9, and later mastering Jodo and various other weapons like the bo staff, tamagusari chain, and kama sickle. A national Iaido champion three times over and twice a Jodo champion, Seki Sensei has spent his life refining his skills, not only as a martial artist but also as a teacher known for his kind, logical approach.

Interpreting alongside him, Shogo, the creator of “Let’s Ask Shogo” on YouTube, brings his own depth of experience, including a 2nd Dan in Asayama Ichiden Ryu and Iaido. With his understanding of both the art and the language, Shogo bridges cultures, making Seki Sensei’s teachings accessible to students around the world. This video is a rare opportunity to learn the intricacies of katana handling from a true master and to deepen your appreciation for the art and discipline of Iaido.
