President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joined the people of Malaybalay City as it celebrated the culmination of the two-month Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon province.

The Kaamulan Festival is a yearly cultural celebration that brings together the ethnic customs and traditions of the seven hill tribes of the province – Talaandig, Hogaoonon, Umayamnon, Manobo, Tigwahanon, Matigsalog and Bukidnon – through performances of ritual prayers, street dances and songs.

In his message, the President shared his elation in attending the festival. “…Nagpasalamat ko sa inyong imbitasyon nga muanhi karun sa inyong Festival (I’m thanking you for your invitation to come on your festival),” he said.

He also assured Bukidnon of continuous help from the government, specifically in the agriculture sector. “…sa unang abot sa mga hinabang sa agrikultura unahon mo (in the first entry of agricultural aid, you will be accommodated first)… Ignun ko lang si Pinol ug Secretary Dominguez, puro man na taga Mindanao, taga Davao man na si Dominguez, unahon mo ug unsay priority (I will tell Secretary Piñol and Secretary Dominguez, they are both from Mindanao, Dominguez is from Davao, you will be first accommodated, of what is the priority) to come here and talk to the governor and to the congressmen,” he stressed.

The Kaamulan Festival’s colorful celebration was also attended by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria Zubiri, Jr., Malaybalay City Mayor Ignacio Zubiri, other local government officials of Bukidnon province, and the Indigenous People’s Mandatory representatives.
