For the first time, the Life Hub Shelter in Wheeling will operate 24 hours a day, serving as an emergency homeless shelter as snow begins to fall in the Ohio Valley.

Located at 35 16th St., the shelter is expanding its services to support unsheltered individuals during the upcoming winter storm. Plans are in place to begin hosting guests starting Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

"This will be the first time we'll be open 24 hours. It's going to be a learning experience for us," said Lisa Leach, Life Hub Shelter director.

The shelter has teamed up with other nonprofit agencies to ensure they have the necessary supplies to help the homeless stay warm.
