The Yaqibrush Co. Knight's Helmet razor head and Moka Express synthetic brush

Yaqibrush: The Knight's Helmet - 24mm Moka Express - Murphy & McNeill: Kells

This week's shave is with the Knight's Helmet safety razor head from the Yaqibrush company which I've placed on a stainless steel handle. I find the razor to be aggressive, at a similar level to the famed Mühle R41 (2013). For those of you with sensitive skin, this may not be the razor for you; I've enjoyed my shaves with the Knight's Helmet but it is a little too aggressive for me to use as a daily shaver. Nevertheless, it is a nice, smooth shave that, in my opinion would suit someone with heavy or coarse growth.

The shaving soap is from Murphy and McNeil and is their Kells shaving soap, composed of a mix of high quality oils and ingredients that create a dense, creamy lather. A mid-scented tribute to Christian Dior's Sauvage, it is a lovely soap that lather's well, provides all the comfort you would expect, all wrapped up in a fabulous scent.

The inspiration for the soap is the Book of Kells: dated to sometime around 800 AD, it is a massive and incredibly hand-decorated vellum manuscript containing four gospels of the New Testament that is far more visually stimulating than it is legible across its 340 pages. Thought to have been written by Celtic monks, it would have taken many years, perhaps across generations, to complete.  The illustrations show similarities enough to show that at least four individuals were responsible for the incredible art that resides within the pages. Today the book rests at Trinity College in Dublin.
