"Plateau" is an original Meat Puppets song from their 1984 album "Meat Puppets II".

The song was covered by Nirvana on "MTV Unplugged" show in autumn 1993 among two other Meat Puppets songs, "Oh Me" and "Lake Of Fire". All these songs are from their second record. Curt Kirkwood and Cris Kirkwood (aka brothers Meat Puppets) joined Nirvana on stage to perform their songs. On "Plateau" they are playing guitar and bass, Krist is playing guitar.

MTV wanted some bigger names to play with Nirvana, but Kurt, in his typical fashion, preferred to give an exposure to some lesser-known band he loved instead of playing with Eddie Vedder and the likes.

The show was released as a live album a year after.
